"McCormick" pop-up shop @ Pentreath & Hall（「マコーミック」、期間限定ショップ@ペントリース＆ホール）

近頃のんびり、季節外れの夏の話を、標本箱に詰め込んでいるけれど、今回は現在進行形。
ロンドンはHolborn（ホルボーン）近くで、今月（２０１５年１０月）２８日まで開催の、チャーミングな期間限定ショップの話。
いつもきれいな写真で、私が密かに「ブログの師匠」と仰いで愛読している、建築家Ben Pentreath（ベン・ペントリース）氏のブログで知ったのだけれど、彼のパートナーのチャーリー君がポップ・アップショップを、ペントリース氏が共同経営するインテリア雑貨ショップ「Pentreath & Hall」（「ペントリース＆ホール」）の隣にオープンしている。
彼の本業はフローリスト、兼、ケータラー（catererを日本語にすると、「仕出し屋」ぁ!?、全然ニュアンスが違うんだけど・・・、つまり、出張シェフ、フリーランスのシェフ・・・とよんだらいいのかな？）、なので、彼の集めたアンティーク＋ヴィンテージ雑貨の他にも、花やスウィーツも販売されている。　ニュージーランドの大自然の中で育まれた、彼の自然で和める「美意識・ライフスタイル」が、盛り込まれている。
昨日、ホルボーン近くのパブに出かけることがあったので、覗いてみることにした。

Recently, my blog entries have been all about summer gardens etc..., I know, they are totally out of season, but this time it is about something up-to-date.
It is about a most charming little pop-up shop, which is open until 28th of this month (Oct. 2015) near Holborn.
I knew about this event from an architect, Ben Pentreath's blog "Inspiration", which I always admire for its beautiful and tasteful photographs, and I regard it as my "blog master"on the qt... Now, his partner Charlie is opening the pop-up shop next door to his co-owner shop "Pentreath & Hall".
Charlie has newly launched his florist and caterer business (eh...I can't find any suitable Japanese word for "caterer"!?), therefore in this pop-up-shop he deals flowers and sweets as well as his selection of antique + vintage objects. This little shop is filled with his natural, relaxed "aesthetic life style" which he had established in New Zealand.
Yesterday, I had an opportunity to visit near Holborn, so why not!?, I popped-up(!!?) there.

ぱっと明るいイエローに、ペイントされたドレッサーが目を引く店内。
トップ・シーズンのダリアが、華やかさを添える。

The bright-yellow-painted dresser is the eye-catcher in this little shop.
In‐season dahlias add more colour.


ウィンドウには、彼の得意なフリースタイルのアレンジメント。

He is so good at free-style flower arrangement.
One gorgeous example is in the window.






グリーンのアーンはダートマウス焼きで、私も結構好き。
ウチにも２－３個持っている。
木を描いたようなマグのパターンは、Mochaware（モカウエア）と呼ばれていて、
アルカリ性釉薬に酸性の染料（タバコが使われたりする）を落とすと、
このようなパターンが形成される。
１９世紀に、日常の器として量産されたものが、今では貴重なコレクタブルズ。

The green and cream urns are vintage Dartmouth pottery.
I also like them, and have 2-3 similar ones.
Large mugs with tree-like patterns are called "Mochaware".
Apparently these patterns are automatically formed
by dripping coloured acidic solution
(often tobacco is used) onto alkaline slip.
Although they were produced for daily ware in 19th century,
nowadays they are sought-after collectible items.

ウィンドウにポップに並ぶダリア達。
そして・・・この、フレンチ・マーブル・ボウルに「やられた」私。
そうそう、こまさしくこういうのを、ずっと探していたのだった。

Dahlias are pop-colouring windows.
And...these French marble bowls hooked me.
Yes!! I have been looking for exactly this kind of bowl!!


想像だけれど、プロヴァンスあたりのものでは？？？
釉薬や陶土でマーブリングしたものを、よく見かけるので。

I wonder if they come from Provence???
In that part of France they often make
slip-marbled or clay-marbled ceramics.


一番いいパターンのペアを買った・・・と自認している＾＾。

I bought these - I reckon it is the best pair ; ))


ラズベリー・チョコレート・ブラウニー。
普通ブラウニーは、小麦粉が甘すぎて重すぎて苦手だけれど、
これは、ブラウニーというよりか、ほとんどチョコレート。
こんな美味しいのは、食べたことがない。
もう一つキャロット・ケーキも買ったけれど、
写真を撮るまもなく、配偶者氏に完食される。

His raspberry-chocolate-brownie.
Usually flour is too heavy and taste is too sweet,
thus chocolate-brownie is not for me.
However this is far from an "ordinary" brownie,
it's almost pure dark chocolate!!
I've never had such yummy brownie!!
I also brought a carrot cake back, which unfortunately was
immediately consumed by my hubby before I took photos...

期間限定ショップ「マコーミック」は、１０月２２，２３，２４，２６，２７，２８日にオープン。
あと数日しか残っていないけれど、チャンスがあればぜひ。

Pop-up shop "McCormick" will be open from 11am – 6pm
on 22nd, 23rd, 24th 26th, 27th, 28th October.
Although only several days are left,
it's really worth visiting, if you are around central London ; )
